Reading for Day 39

The Alpha Course

We received permission from Alpha News, through the kind courtesy of Sharon, Alpha Headquarters in London to publish this photograph. (22nd March 2005).

This photograph published in the Alpha News clearly exposes the joy and the enthusiasm of these group of under-graduates from University of Cambridge attending the introduction of an Alpha course, which usually commences with a party. We decided to place this photograph as a Daily Reading---for we were pleased to see our son Paul Nicholas in the midst of this photograph obviously enjoying the Alpha Course!!!!! It looks like each individual on this photograph seems to be enthralled and captivated by the talk given by Jamie Haith of Alpha for Students. This Alpha party was held at the "Fez" nightclub in the city centre in Cambridge.

Also this particular piece of news so blessed and thrilled my spirit that this well known church in London, Holy Trinity Brompton is planning to open a £6 million theological College. This is actually the first parish in the United kingdom to bring into realization a vision of this nature. I remember reading in one of the newspapers that the current Bishop of London, the Right Rev Richard Chartres when he heard that the former Vicar of Holy Trinity, Sandy Millar was retiring, he announced that he had got some great plans organized for Rev. Sandy. It was a joy to note that Sandy has been asked to be the “professor of church planting” at the new centre. Surely this could be a great training ground to build up faithful and fruitful men and women of God to pastor new churches all over the United Kingdom and even abroad!
