Reading for Day 48:

God The Holy Spirit: What a Precious Gift

A very special Friend!

John 15 v26: But when the Comforter (Counsellor, Helper, Advocate, Intercessor, Stengthener) comes whom I will send to you from the Father the Spirit of Truth, who comes (proceeds) from the Father, He (Himself) will testify regarding Me.

John 16 v7: If I do not go away, the Comforter (Counsellor, Helper, Advocate, Intercessor, Stengthener, Standby) will not come to you - into close fellowship with you. But if I go away, I will send Him to you - to be in close fellowship with you.

v8 and when He comes, He will convict and convince the world and bring demonstration to it about sin and about righteousness - uprightness of heart and right standing with God - and about judgement.

I prefer to call my Dearest Friend, the 3rd person of the Blessed Trinity as God the Holy Ghost. This name, God the Holy Ghost, resonates better and sounds sweeter to my spirit. When I proclaim this name it comes out of my vocal chords as a powerful entity. By the way being the 3rd person does not at all make Him insignificant or the lowest in rank. Our Lord Jesus described Him as the Comforter. In John 15 and John 16, Jesus mentioned our Helper and Comforter a number of times.

The above scriptures concur that God the Holy Spirit is a real authentic person. Whenever a Jehovah Witness come to our front door (they always come into twos) we always ask them whether they know God the Holy Spirit. Have they sensed His Presence? Have they become intimate with the Holy Spirit?

They will respond by answering that the Holy Spirit is just a form of energy/force. I reply by saying that God the Holy Spirit has certain distinct characteristics which embodies a person. If this is not the case, you are implying that Jesus Christ is being economical with the truth in reference to the above scriptures. It is also stated in Ephesians 5: ‘Do not grieve the Holy Spirit.’
